Early 1900's
Percy Worthington Fuller and Clara (Ball) Fuller owned the farm, where Percy Worthington Fuller Jr was later born on Oct. 28, 1922. The farm was much larger then, being one of the only properties on that stretch of Southampton Rd. It went all the way up and down both sides of the road, but pieces were sold off over time, to create what you know today. It was then sold to another family in town, and bought back by the Fuller's later on.
1950's
Fuller's Country Horse Farm started specializing in Morgan's in the 1950's. It was owned and operated by Percy Worthington Fuller, Jr. who trained and bred Morgans. Percy was a trainer at the Morgan Horse Farm in Vermont prior to his running Fuller's Horse Farm. He was known as a 'horse whisperer', and if you ask around a lot of the horse people in the Valley will say their first horse came from Percy. He rode across disciplines, and trained in Saddle Seat, Western, Jumping, and Driving. Percy ran the horse program for the Huntington Girl Scout Camp and the Goshen 4-H camp, and was a member of the Hampshire County Riding Club & Massachusetts Morgan Horse Club. In 1963 Percy and his wife Marilyn began Fuller's Country Horse Camp, a resident horse camp for girls which ran successfully for 25 years. The camp brought people from around the country to the Valley. Percy retired into offering hay and sleigh rides in the 1990's, driving in parades, for weddings, and in events around the area. Percy was well known for driving with his two beloved Morgan mares, Katie and Izora (one of Izora's babies is still on the farm, and currently owned by Lori Brogle, keeping the Morgan horse a part of Fuller's today).
1980-2020
Their daughter Carolyn Fuller Coggins, who worked with her father training and showing Morgans, took over running the camp from 1980 to 1988, and then re-opened it as a day camp from 1998 - 2014, under Fuller's Horse Facility.
After the indoor arena was built in 1980, Carolyn evolved the farm into a full boarding facility with professional training in hunt seat and dressage. Carolyn spent time working under Lendon Gray in Florida, before coming back to run the family farm in Westhampton. Carolyn rode through 4th level Dressage and also across disciplines (saddle seat, western, driving, hunt seat, and jumping).
Over the years our head trainers included Chris Hickey and Samantha Williams, and hosted clinics with Olympic level Dressage riders.
The Fullers provided boarding, training and lessons across disciplines, and offered trail rides, hay and sleigh rides, as well as horse sales and leases. Today their focus is in dressage and jumping.
IEA - 2003 - 2020
Carolyn Fuller Coggins was one of the first coaches to form an IEA Team back when the IEA was finding it's beginnings back in the early 2000's. She founded the Williston Fuller IEA Equestrian Team, bringing Williston Northampton School riding program to Fuller's in 2003, and winning many championships and high point trainer awards. In 2019 The Perpetual Memorial Trophy of the IEA Middle School Regional Championships was named after Carolyn and dedicated in 2019. Fuller's housed the IEA team until August 2020.
Today - 2020 onward
Today the farm has been passed onto it's 3rd generation, with Carolyn's daughter Emily and long time Fuller's rider and friend Lori Brogle, taking the reins. Chrys Gavagan of Gavagan Eventing offers lessons and training. We look forward to the future of Fullers, and we look forward to having you along with us for the ride!
